Allen Walker and other characters

One of the best weekends I've had till date was last weekend. You may ask why; the answer is the 3rd Middle East Film and Comic-Con. This three day event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, was a magical and fantastical realm of its own filled with wizards, zombies, vampires, heroes, villians, anime characters and let's not forget, humans. Some snapshots from the event: Kurosaki_Ildaa | Allen Walker | Black Spiderman I cosplayed Allen Walker, the main protagonist from D. Gray Man. Allen is an exorcist, belonging to the Black Order, who is in search of his mentor Cross Marian. On his journey, he, his friends (Lavi, Leenalee, Kanda) and his trusty golem (Timcampy) meet a variety of different characters; monsters, demons and humans. Timcampy (the golem that looks a lot like a snitch from Harry Potter) was the only part of the costume that I was not able to re-create. Alas, poor Allen was forced to navigate the world of comic-con without Timcampy. Look at my li

Coffee, Global Day and Comic-con

Writing a blog is actually incredibly painstaking work. I'm not really sure what I want to say and many times I think that I don't have anything of relevance to say. The best policy to abide by when one does not have anything to say is to smile and not say anything at all. These are some of the things that I could smile about this week, most of them include spending time with my siblings and my cousin. Another thing to smile about is the upcoming MEFCC i.e. Middle East Film and Comic-con (only the third ever in Dubai). I am very excited for this and I am also going to cosplay. I don't know yet if I will enter the competition or not - most likely not but I will be cosplaying Allen Walker from D. Gray Man. Watch out for my post comic-con post. That will be an interesting read. The Highlights of this week: 1. Tim Horton's French Vanilla Coffee is just about the most delicious thing I have ever come across; and the French Vanilla coffee from Tim Horton'

The Associate

I just completed reading a book by John Grisham, The Associate. It has been a while since I read a novel like that. It was exciting to get back to reading with so much passion and curiosity for the characters and the story. The Associate revolves around the life of one Kyle McAvoy who recently graduated from law school. On his way back from a little league game, he is shadowed by a couple of strange looking men in dark suits. This is where his life turns upside-down and he is forced into the world of corporate espionage.

Wreck-it Sonia!

Today was a productive day compared to most Saturdays.  I was able to finally clear up the obscene mess of wires behind my PC. I think everyone has to do this at some point in time or another. My greatest achievement today was removing the LCD screen of my sister's old Dell INSPIRON 1525.  A long time ago, my then 7 year old brother kicked my sister's Dell and damaged the hinges a little bit. It never opened and shut quite the same way every again.  As time moved forward, the hinges became progressively worse and there came a point when my sister had to use a stack of text books to help keep her screen propped up. This was 3 years ago.  My sister bought a new laptop, HP something something.  She even won another; talk about good fortune. It's been a year since she bought the HP. I decided it was time to make use of her old laptop, the poor old Dell. I replaced Windows (I think it was vista) with JoliOS, with her permission of course. (She would kill me if I had don
